When the music stops the Voles will all sit down

Software king of the world Microsoft is playing musical chairs with its top brass after Panos Panay's shock jump to Amazon.

Pavan Davuluri is stepping up as the new kingpin of Windows and Surface. Davuluri has been a fixture at Microsoft for a 23 years, and now he's juggling both the Surface and the Windows roles.

Vole’s experiences and devices boss Rajesh Jha said: "This change will enable us to take a holistic approach to building silicon, systems, experiences, and devices that span Windows client and cloud for this AI era."

Meanwhile, Mikhail Parakhin is off to new pastures, leaving behind his stint with Bing Chat and Edge tinkering. He's still working with Kevin Scott, but the dark satanic rumour mill suggests he's eyeing the exit.

Meanwhile, Mustafa Suleyman, the DeepMind whizz, is now donning the cap of Microsoft's AI CEO and Karen Simonyan, another from Inflection AI, is now the chief scientist of Microsoft AI.
