Cook tweeted the admission during his supplier tour of Japan.

He said: "We've been partnering with Sony for over a decade to create the world's leading camera sensors for iPhone," Cook tweeted, and thanked Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida for showing him around the Kumamoto facility."

Tim Cook's visit to Sony's facility suggests this partnership isn't going anywhere anytime soon, and the fact that the Tame Apple Press has the name of a brand means that it can waste bandwidth speculating what will be in the next iPhone by looking at what Sony will release next.

One TAP gushed this morning: " Sony is said to have developed a new image sensor that uses a new semiconductor architecture to capture more light and reduce both over- and underexposure. The new sensor is expected to feature in Apple's next generation of iPhones, but will also ship to other smartphone manufacturers."

No proof, or quote, or anything other than Sony issued a press release about a new image sensor and an assumption that Apple must have the latest and best -- even when it doesn't.
