Seven Nehaem EP are doing well
3.2GHz Nehalem renders fast
As we said many times before, Intel launched Nehalem EP CPUs on March 30th and from now on, this CPU will be known as Xeon W55x0, X55x0 or E55xx version. This day was second to last day in Q1 2009 and it helped Intel to keep its promise and launch in Q1.
The top of the hill is W5580 and this one works at 3.2GHz, has QPI at 6.4GT/s, FSB 1333 and this quad core has 8MB of cache. With TDP of 130W this is the top of the hill and if you take a look at the spec you will learn that this CPU shares the specification with Core i7 965 but beware that the socket is different.
The Xeon W5580 uses FC-LGA 1366 Socket. The runner up is X5570 works at 2.93 and has the same spec expect the TDP is down to 95W, X5560 works at 2.8GHz and has the same spec and 95W TDP, X5550 is 2.66GHZ clocked. Xeon E5530 works at 2.4GHz has 5.86GT/s QPI, FSB 1066, quad core and 8MB cache with 80W TPD while E5520 has the same spec and 2.26GHz clock.
The last on the list is E5502 and this champ works at 1.8GHz has QPI at 4.80GT/s, QPI 800MHz and two cores, 4MB cache and 80W TDP which leads us to believe that this might be a harvested quad core Nehalem.
If you want to see how this baby works in workstation environment powered by FirePRO V8700 card from ATI and Quadro FX4800 and two brand new FirePRO and Quadro cards you better go and see it here.
