Intel
has recently posted a demonstration of its 32nm Westmere generation processor, codenamed Clarkdale, and it is already known that this chip will feature 45nm integrated graphics. A short video posted on YouTube, however, suggests that power consumption of the whole platform should not exceed 65W, and all that while running intensive benchmarks, which is quite nice.
Intel said that the processor core will manage up to 4 simultaneous threads and we already reported that it's likely that the IGP will be very similar to G45 chipset integrated graphics. The graphics, however, will not be natively designed and will come in what Intel calls a Multi-Chip Package, where the graphics will simply move to the socket.
Since Clarkdale is the 32nm desktop version of Westmere cores, it will also get Arrandale mobile version whereas the high-end desktop version, Gulftown, will have six cores. Clarkdale and Arrandale versions are expected in Q4 2009 and the Gulftown will come in 1H 2010.
