According to Alienware, this offer comes as a response to the "large number" of customers that expressed a desire to get just the chassis. We bet they didn't know that "desires" usually come with this high price tag.

The P2 barebone kit comes in Silver or Black, and it is a limited time offer. The barebone kit is a P2 extended ATX tower chassis, with standard Astral Blue lightning. "In addition to its striking design, the case is packed with user-friendly features such as tool-less entry, easy-access front-side I/O ports and is designed for optimal airflow." Only good thing is that you get the 700W PSU, that is listed as "Standard 700-watt Multi-GPU-approved power supply", so nothing fancy.
