AMD has placed significant orders for new HD 6000 series chips with TSMC and the move is expected to bolster TSMC's sales in Q4.
AMD is already producing upcoming Barts chips at TSMC and orders will grow as the rest of the series is introduced. In addition, TSMC is slated to produce AMD's Ontario APU.
However, AMD CEO Dirk Meyer recently said the company was experiencing low demand in western markets and AMD apparently missed its sales targets for Q3. Thanks to new graphics chips and several contracts from Apple, Dell and Sony, AMD's sales are expected to grow in Q4.
