Qualcomm did not give out a lot of information about the Snapdragon X Elite, but we do know it is based on a 4nm 12-core Qualcomm Oryon CPU working at up to 3.8GHz and featuring Single- and Dual-Core Boost features, pushing it to 4.3GHz. It also comes with 42MB of total cache. The CPU is paired up with next-gen Adreno GPU with DX12 support, upgradable drivers, and up to 4.6 TFLOPs of compute performance. It will support up to 64GB of 8533 MT/s LPDDR5x memory, NVMe PCIe Gen 4 SSD and UFS 4.0 storage, and more

As said, the SoC promises significant performance improvements with low power consumption, leading to multi-day battery life. According to Qualcomm, we are looking at up to 2x faster CPU performance than Intel's Core i7-1360P 12-core CPU, or the same performance at 68 percent less power. The GPU is 2x faster compared to the same Intel CPU, and Qualcomm also compared it to AMD's Ryzen 9 7940HS, showing up to 80 percent faster performance.

AI will also get a boost with Hexagon NPU and Qualcomm AI Engine. It also gets 5G, WiFi 7 connectivity, and the new Snapdragon Sound Technology Suite.

Unfortunately, the first devices or laptops based on the Snapdragon X Elite SoC are coming in mid-2024, so it will have tough competition with Intel's Meteor Lake and AMD's Phoenix chips.
