ARM mulls Globalfoundries licensing deal
An alternative to TSMC and UMC
AMD's Middle Eastern chip-making branch, Globalfoundries, could be on the verge of landing an interesting licensing deal with ARM.
At a media event in Taipei, Vice President of ARM's Segment Marketing Division Kevin Smith announced that the UK-based chip designer was considering a a deal with Globalfoundries.
"Global Foundries will be a viable alternative to TSMC," said Smith, but he didn't go into details.
