We had a chance to meet with Tom Sonderman and Norm Armour, both Vice presidents at Globalfoundies, and they gave us quick updates on the company's FAB2 plans.

They confirmed that it will take close to 24 months to construct the factory and that by October or November 2011, construction should be finished and the first machines should find their way inside.

Real volume production at FAB2 in Malta, New York state, should start in second half of 2012 and until then, Dresden FAB1 should hold the ground with 45 and 32nm products.
