Intel is planning to introduce several new CPUs in May, and it will reduce prices on some.
In the high-end, the chipmaker will introduce Core i7 975 Extreme Edition and Core
i7 950, clocked at 3.33Ghz and 3.06GHz respectively. These parts will
reportedly replace the 940 and 965, and will cost $999 and $562 in
thousand unit quantities.
Moving down the ladder, we should see the 2.67GHz Core 2 Quad Q8400 in
April, as well as an energy efficient Q8400s version. Two dual-cores
are on the way as well, the Core 2 Duo E7600 at 3.06GHz and the Pentium
E5500 at 2.8GHz.
In related news, AMD's Phenom II 955 should appear sometime in April, and it will be clocked at 3.2GHz.
