That’s a good start

If you consider that X58 accounts for 2 percent of total chipset sales in Q1 2009, Intel has ambitious plans for its P55 in Q4. If all goes well P55 and the rest of Ibex Peak chipsets from series 5 might reach a massive 10 percent of motherboard sales in Q4 2009.

Intel will sell very few of these chipset in Q2 and in this quarter Ibex Peak series 5 chipsets should take less than half percent of total sales and in Q3 this number should grow to close to 2.5 percent. Considering that X58 never reached 2 percent market share, and probably never will, this will be an impressive start.

In Q4 2009 Ibex Peak Series 5 chipset sales should get very close to 10 percent and i the same quarter X58 should drop in favour of cheaper Nehalem chipset.

As you can imagine, these are projection numbers that Intel hopes to achieve and especially with such economy, there are no any guaranties that this nice plan will work as expected.
