Last week AMD officially said that Deneb, 45nm CPU will be called Phenom II X4 and this has been confirmed by Randy Alen, the Senior VP of computing solution group, so it has some weight.

Deneb, quad-core 45nm is Phenom II X4 while Heka, the three-core that comes derived from Deneb, will simply be branded as Phenom II X3 and once it's ready.

AMD plans to introduce simplified numbers and 3GHz Deneb will be branded as AMD Phenom II X4 940 and this baby will come unlocked and ready for overclockers.

The message hidden around Phenom II is rather simple, Phenom was something that we try to forget and therefore we give you Phenom II, that is much better than the original Phenom and therefore it deserves the Roman number II in the suffix.
