According to our sources, at least the top 1333 MHz Xeon, the E5365 clocked at 3 GHz, might have a heat dissipation problem.
Intel officially said that the €5365 might dissipate as much as 150W.Intel went public with this number at the International Solid State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) a few weeks ago in San Francisco.
That was the part of the "Implementation of the 65nm Dual-core 64b Merom Processor" talk. When asked, Intel confirmed that at least one E5365 will dissipate 150W.
However, this might be a specific OEM part with a custom part number while the generally available E5365 might at the end have 120W dissipation.
This definitely confirms that with Quad core, Intel desperately needs to go to 45 nanometre to ramp up the clocks.
