Vulkan should be the next big thing bringing a next gen graphics library for creating high performance applications.  Of course it needs hardware to play on and Nvidia's support is pretty important. Last February, after the version 1.0 of Vulkan was released, NVIDIA updated its SHiELD console with support for the API to encourage developers to get on with creating apps for Vulkan.  Now it seems it has got the standard to run on the K1.

Firmware version 1.2 has a lot going on. Some of them are changes Google introduced in Android 6.0.1, like a fix for the Do Not Disturb function and double-tapping the home button to launch the camera app. There are all the security patches for Android 6.0 and support for Doze mode, introduced in Android 6.0, as well as other power-related improvements.

Nvidia added support for MIDI devices via USB and fixes some issues regarding Wi-Fi when waking up from sleep, moving apps to the SD card, and Gamepad Mapper.
