According to The Wall Street Journal, the iPhone 5S won’t be much different than the current model. It shouldn’t come as a surprise, as Apple did the exact same thing with the 3GS and the 4S. However, the 5S should get a couple of new colours, green and gold to be exact.
However, the rumoured low-cost iPhone should be available in a bunch of colours, including green, blue, yellow-orange and ink. It will feature a plastic shell and should end up significantly cheaper than the 5S.
This means that Apple will probably launch one all-new iPhone every year. The all new high end model should appear 2014, while the cheap one should tip up this year. We see quite a bit of potential for cannibalization if this is the case, and it probably is.
Apple is also expected to show off a massive redesign of iOS at the World Wide Developer Conference, which starts today. It seems that the new look will be a lot cleaner, flatter and it will drop the skeumorphic design, which has been a trademark of iOS for the past six years.
