However, enthusiasts over at XDA forums seem to have cracked it. They worked out LG’s IMEI and production numbers, usually used to find new firmware. It’s hard to say how accurate the method is, but users started sharing their numbers and came up with some interesting figures.
The figures suggest that LG managed to produce about 70,000 devices in October, 90,000 in November and 210,000 in December. Of course, Google did not comment the figures and we should take them with a grain of salt.
However, if they are accurate they should be a source of concern. It means someone at Google at some point had a sit-down with the Nexus team and thought it would be a good idea to launch the company’s new flagship phone with just 70,000 units rolling off the assembly lines. Good call.
