Dell to do Android phone for AT&T
Likely to be similar to Mini 3i at China Mobile
Just when we thought that Dell was not going to really be able to break into the smartphone market, our sources tell us that a deal has actually been brewing with AT&T to produce an Android smartphone for the carrier as an OEM deal, from what we are hearing.
It seems that the Android smartphone with be likely branded as an AT&T product by Dell and it will most likely be very similar to the Mini 3i smartphone that China Mobile recently released. According to what we have been able to find out, while the form factor and some of the electronics inside the AT&T offer would be the same as the Mini 3i, it would offer a touch screen and camera, which would make it different from the China Mobile offering.
Right now it seems that information is in short supply and we don’t expect to see it before the end of the year, but AT&T and Dell might surprise everyone and get it out the door before the end of the year. With all of the Android mania right now and with almost every carrier racing to make sure that they have an Android model to offer, AT&T could be eager to see this one arrive sooner rather than later.
