Chinese salesman wasn't killed by exploding phone
Homemade gun to blame
Last week we reported about an incident in China in which a salesman was killed by an exploding cellphone battery.
Apparently, the exploding cellphone was not to blame after all. Investigators concluded that the man was carrying a home made gun, and found nine bullets in his pocket. He apparently dropped the gun, which went off and the stray bullet severed his neck artery. His phone was also destroyed in the incident, causing confusion and leading to the initial theory that the phone's battery was to blame.
Police officials don't know why the 45-year old man carried the illegal firearm, but The Telegraph cites high crime rates in Guangzhou as the possible reason. Still, this doesn't mean you should use cheap, knockoff batteries in your phone.
