The 23.6-inch U24E590D sports a PLS panel rated at 300cd/m2, with a 4ms response time (GTG). The 28-inch U28E590D is actually based on a TN panel, hence it has a response time of 1ms and brightness rating of 370cd/m2. Of course, the PLS panel also has better viewing angles (178 vs 160/170 degrees). Both monitors ship with two HDMI inputs (2.0 and 1.4), along with DisplayPort 1.2 inputs.
The 24-inch model will go on sale roughly a month from now, and the suggested retail price is $399. The 28-incher is available now and costs $599.
It’s not every day that you see two monitors of the exact same series and similar part number launch using two different panel technologies, and it sounds even stranger when you consider the 24-incher is based on a seemingly more advanced panel than its big brother.
