In a rather underwhelming blog post, Valve has announced the launch which comes after an extensive testing period that lasted since March. As said, Counter-Strike 2 will bring back all the favorite maps and matchmaking modes, as well as keep all the goodies from CS:GO, which should appeal to returning players, as well as some new features and things. The new sub-tick architecture promises that the server will now know "the exact instant that motion starts, a shot is fired, or a 'nade is thrown."

The game is already on top of the Steam "top seller" charts, and it could be on its way to breaking the 1,818,773 concurrent players record that CS:GO set in April.

Both Nvidia and AMD have jumped on the CS 2 train, with AMD announcing support with its latest Radeon GPU drivers, the Radeon Software: Adrenalin Edition 23.9.3, and Nvidia showing that the Geforce RTX 40 series GPUs can run the game at over 500 FPS and low latency thanks to Nvidia Reflex.

Valve also released a whole new patch that fixed some issues and enabled some of the new modes. You can check out the full release notes over at Steam.
