First come first served

Valve has now confirmed that the first pre-orders of the Steam Deck handheld console should ship to customers by the end of February 2022.

Previously, Valve had to delay the console to that same month due to problems that are plaguing the entire industry, "global supply chain issues and material shortages".

In the latest update over at the Steam blog, the company has confirmed that the Steam Deck will indeed be heading to customers as of the end of February. Of course, the company also noted that " "global pandemic, supply issues, and shipping issues notwithstanding".

Those that have pre-ordered the console can check the status of the order over at the dedicated page. The orders will be shipped out on a first come first served basis, so those that pre-ordered the console first, are now getting the Q1 2022 shipping estimate, and those that were late to the party are scheduled for Q2 2022.

Earlier, Valve has showcased the Steam Deck running The Witcher 3 game with no problems and has said that it works flawlessly with 80 of the top 100 games on Steam.

In case you missed it earlier, Valve's Steam Deck is based on a custom AMD APU with Zen 2 CPU and RDNA 2 GPU, has a 7-inch 1280x800 resolution touchscreen, and starts at $399. It measures 298x117x49mm and weighs 669g.
