Although Nintendo’s Wii isn’t quite a console famous for hardcore gaming, as its success mostly depends on casual gamers, Sega apparently sees this as a golden opportunity to rake in some dough.
In an interview with MCV, Sega’s Alan Pritchard and John Clark say that the success of Red Steel and Resident Evil 4 clearly shows that Wii is not all about casual gaming. Saying that, Sega plans to fill this still somewhat vacant gaming niche on the Wii in 2009, as they will probably push for more adult oriented titles (read bloody, gory and such).
They also added how, mostly thanks to Wii’s success, casual gaming and family oriented titles have gone through significant expansion on the Xbox and PS3, so maybe Sega can do the opposite for the Wii.
