Intel is making the final touches to its upcoming G45 and P45 chipset lines. It still has to launch the X48 and that will happen sometime in this quarter. After this it will launch the much faster G45 IGP, a sort of DirectX 10 compatible chipset and a new desktop chipset, the P45.

The P45 will naturally replace Intel's P35 generation and it doesn’t look that advanced. It just brings PCIe 2.0 to the mainstream market and that is about it.

G45 has s new graphics core, branded as Intel GMA X4500HD, and both P45 and G45 support FSB up to 1333, but not faster.

Both chipsets should be ready to go to the manufacturers in late April. That should give them enough time to prepare the boards in mid to late May.

The stage seems set for a big happy launch at Computex in early June 2008.
