A reference board and pricing information for Nvidia’s nForce 650i Ultra has
finally been made available. The board was first "launched" in
November but no one had seen anything about it since Nvidia's announcement.
It is now expected to appear in the shops soon at a sub-$100 price. The nForce
650i Ultra has similarities to the 650i SLI but lacks its SLI support.
Otherwise it is a budget performance chipset which can handle dual-channel
DDR2-800, Gigabit Ethernet with FirstPacket technology and high definition
audio. It supports Intel Core 2 Extreme, Core 2 Quad and Core 2 Duo processors
with 1066 MHz and 800 MHz front-side-buses.
The reference board design, has a single passive heatsink to cool the north
bridge. There is one PCIe x16, two PCIe and three PCI slots. It comes with four SATA 3.0Gbps and one PATA port for hard
disk and optical drive expansion with the nForce 650i Ultra.
It lacks many ports on the rear I/O panel with just room for a PS/2 keyboard and mouse, four USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet and eight channel audio jacks.
