Green IT Village is a small step toward better living. Global warming is already occurring and many are unaware of it. At this year’s CeBIT there is an initiative to increase awareness and it’s said that by 2010, if we try hard that is, we can decrease poisonous CO2 emissions by 54 million tons.
We’re talking only about computers, and almost 50% of the energy generated by an average computer is released into the atmosphere as heat.
While the rest of Fudzilla team is busy digging up information, I took the liberty to stroll around a couple of halls looking for environmental support. Better use of energy is a step toward safer future, and Green IT Village in Hall 9 should be a foundation toward better living.
CeBIT is greenish this year and Mother Nature made sure that it’s sunny, too.
Signposts we need to heed are green and lead to Hall 9.
This is just a fraction of CeBIT that is trying to raise awareness. There’s also an improvised office that’s supposed to paint a picture of the beauty that IT brings. 2008 office offers more space and pollution is decreased.
CO2 emissions measured in a modern office is 8.08kg per year, whereas an office from 2003 reaches 8.83kg per year.
