Apple’s cheaper VisionPro heading to be vapourware

by on04 November 2024

Delayed until 2027

Apple, the fruity cargo cult, has delayed the cheaper version of its disastrous, overpriced mixed-reality headset, the Vision Pro.

In February of this year, Apple began shipping the Vision Pro with a hefty price tag of $3500. The high price tag, lack of software, and usefulness as a chocolate teapot made the Vision Pro as popular as the Boston Strangler among users who gave it a wide berth.

In a recent interview, Apple CEO Tim Cook tried to spin Vision Pro as an “early-adopter product” that is targeted at those who want to experience tomorrow's technology today. However, it was not even that, as according to research by Appfigures, the development of new apps for Apple Vision Pro has declined significantly since its launch. In September, only 10 new apps were added to the visionOS App Store, compared to the hundreds of apps released in the first two months.

The Tame Apple Press [TAP] claimed that the project would be saved when Jobs’ Mob released a more cheap version of the Vision Pro, potentially to be released in 2025 or 2026. It is amusing that TAP used the word cheap as if it were in Apple’s vocabulary and now it seems that was just a fantasy.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently revealed that Apple will only release an updated Vision Pro with an Apple M5 chip in 2025. He also stated that the release of Apple's cheaper Vision Pro is delayed beyond 2027.  Apple's only new head-mounted display device in 2025 will be the Vision Pro with an upgraded M5 processor.

This apparently was common knowledge among those in TAP who received information from Apple’s press office about making the cheap version of the Vision Pro, the Duke Nukem, of mixed reality sets.
