Kodak claims its new technology increases sensitivity two to four times compared to currently available solutions. Sounds interesting for mobile phones and other flashless gadgets.

"This represents a new generation of image sensor technology and addresses one of the great challenges facing our industry - how to capture crisp, clear digital images in a poorly lit environment," said Chris McNiffe, general manager of Kodak's Image Sensor Solutions group.

How it works, or if it works at all, remains to be seen, but the market is loving the news and in current trading Kodak shares are up by 8% at press time.
