In a Financial Times interview, the recently knighted Sony CEO, Sir Howard Stringer, said that the company was considering a PS3 price cut.

"Nintendo Wii has been a successful enterprise, and a very good business model, compared with ours . . . because it’s cheaper,” said Sir Stringer.  “That  is what we are studying at the moment. That’s what we are trying to refine."

Most analyists expect a price cut of about $100 before the Christmas season. Sony slashed the price of the PS3 by 20 per cent in Japan before it was launched in November. But it is still by far the most expensive of the three main video game consoles on the market.
