Chip sales to fall in 2018

But that doesn't mean to say they won't grow

While sales of semiconductors won't be quite as buoyant as they were in 2017, the market will still grow by 15.7 percent.

That's according to the latest prediction from the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organisation, based on actual results in the second quarter of this year.

Last year, sales grew by 21.6 percent amounting to a cool $412.2 billion – an all time high.

The WSTS forecasts the biggest growth will come from memory, analogue ICs, discretes and optoelectronics.
