Apacer CF SSD drive
Computex 07: SSD on the cheap
Apacer was show its SRFD, or SATA RAID Flash Drive at its booth and this could be a viable alternative to SSD as long as you can live with the limited capacity CF cards offer.
The SRFD is the size of a 2.5in hard drive and it has two CF slots for memory cards. Fit two of these and you can select to run them in RAID 0 or 1.
The SRFD has a built in RAID controller with hardware ECC (Error Correction Control) and it will work with any notebook that has SATA interface for its hard drive.
No performance numbers or pricing was available, let's just hope it'll be cheap, as this could be useful as a boot drive in a home theatre PC type device as it's noise less and fast.
