Without a shred of patronising, Musk said that it was “great” that Apple was getting into the car industry, but it really should have done it a long time ago. Apple seemed to have missed an opportunity to start a couple of years earlier.
As a result Apple will not be ready for production until 2020. By then Tesla will be churning out a million cars.
"It's a missed opportunity" for Apple, he added.
Although we expect a bit of trash talk from Musk about what should end up being a rival, he did say that Apple “probably” would make a good car and be successful. Probably a lot more successful than Google.
"Google has done a great job at showing the potential of autonomous transport, but they're not a car company. We'd compete with someone that licensed their technology, maybe," he said.
