Reuters then released a huge tirade about how successful Apple had been this year in comparison to Samsung, before popping down to Starbucks to high-five their mates and show off the latest iPhone app.
However we are talking about a difference of 6,000 phones here which is below the margin of error and hardly proof that Apple has killed Samsung yet.
Apple's smartphones sales jumped about 49 percent in the fourth quarter, according to Gartner. In contrast, Samsung, the market dominator since 2011, recorded a nearly 12 percent fall and yet the difference was only 6,000? Apple had 20.4 per cent of the market while Samsung had 19.9 per cent.
What Gartner’s figures show is that Samsung is suffering from a bad case of competition on its lower end, it says nothing about Apple’s over all superiority at all. In fact Samsung had a dire year the fact that margins are not worse is an indication that things are not going that well for Jobs’ Mob either.
