NEC releases new Xeon servers
Full of E5-2600 goodness
NEC has been the latest outfit to announce that it is releasing a new generation of servers based on the new Intel Xeon E5-2600 product family.
The new generation of Express5800 E5 Generation Series servers will be combined with NEC's own ideas of ProgrammableFlow support which is designed to speed up cloud computing projects. Dylan Larson, Director of Marketing for Intel's Datacenter Infrastructure Group said that the Intel Xeon E5-2600 product family delivers energy efficiency, trusted security, and leading performance.
He claimed that the combination of NEC's Express5800 E5 Generation Servers with ProgrammableFlow networking delivers high levels of advanced infrastructure solutions for the next-generation data centre. Suppliers appear quite enthused about Intel's new Xeon E5-2600 and appear to be rushing to get the kit out. Already we have heard of a number of OEMs who have come up with server ideas based around the new chip.
