Convicted monopolist Microsoft is having to show that its forthcoming Windows 7 does not violate any anti-trust rules.

According to Information Week a Court Technical Committee has received a build of Windows 7 from Microsoft and is checking it for any features that might violate the federal antitrust agreement. The committee is concerned that the OS causes computers to favor Microsoft applications over third-party software.

So far few people know anything about Windows 7, which had been in development under the code name Blackcomb. It will probably be released in 2010. That is a year after the anti-trust court's oversight of Microsoft is going to expire.
