Apple’s iPad 2 went on sale in Europe last Friday, but if you thought you’d be able to pop into your store around the corner and get one, think again.
The new tablet has already sold on in all major EU markets, from Land’s End in the west to what used to be the Iron Curtain in the east. Numerous outlets started reporting shortages on launch day and even the better stocked shops ran out of iPads over the weekend.
Although Apple has not released any sales number for the new iPad, analysts believe more than half a million units were sold in the US in the first weekend of sales. At this point we are probably talking about more than a million units worldwide.
