Blu-Ray rules in Japan
HD-DVD is as popular as Xbox 360
While there is still some debate over which next generation video format will be the most popular in the E.U. and U.S., there is no question in Japan.
According to figures from Japan's Business Computer News, Blu-Ray is wiping the floor with HD-DVD. A study of 2,300 electronic stores across Japan found that consumers were increasingly buying the next-generation DVD recorders.
Blu-Ray accounted for a crushing 90 percent of next-generation DVD recorder sales in the three-month period, the study said. Toshiba, the main supporter of HD-DVD, only made four percent of sales.
