MSI is one of the first partners to overclock the HD 4870 graphics card, and we're proud to show you a couple of photos and some initial scores this card has achieved.
MSI R4870 card’s core runs at 800MHz, which is 50MHz more than reference 750MHz. Looks-wise, it’s no different from the reference card, meaning we still have a dual slot cooler and a red PCB powered by two 6-pin power connectors.
Due to higher speeds, its power consumption will probably be a bit over 160W, but we’re willing to give that up for some nice benchmark results.
We see here that MSI overclocked this card just enough to handle Geforce GTX 260 in Vantage. Reference Sapphire ran 3.7% slower than the overclocked MSI card.
We’ll soon have more results, but for now we have to compliment MSI on their decision to overclock HD 4870. This card certainly packs a punch and it will bring some excellent performance at a price of around €220.
