Computex 2019: 7nm Zen 2, 15 percent IPC, PCIe 4.0, and five SKUs

At its Computex 2019 keynote, AMD has unveiled the new 3rd generation Ryzen desktop CPUs based on the 7nm manufacturing process and the new Zen 2 architecture, promising up to 15 percent IPC increase over first-generation Zen architecture and coming on July 7th, with five SKUs for starters.

Ryzen 7 2700X and Sapphire's RX 590 Nitro+ so far

It appears that AMD has a couple of special 50th Anniversary Edition products lineup up for release and so far Ryzen 7 2700X and RX 590 Nitro+ have been spotted online.

3rd gen Ryzen coming mid-year

During its March 2019 investors call, AMD has released a fresh 2019 CPU roadmap confirming both that 3rd gen Ryzen desktop CPUs are scheduled for mid-year, as well as confirming that 3rd gen Ryzen Threadripper CPUs are coming.

Most without iGPU

During its CES 2019 keynote, Intel unveiled a total of seven new Coffee Lake CPUs, mostly which are a part of the new F-series, lacking iGPU.

Unlocked and ready for workstations

In addition to the 9th generation Core CPUs and the new 9th generation Core X-series CPUs, Intel has unveiled a rather interesting Xeon CPU, the Xeon W-3175X.

One to have for Threadripper 2 CPUs

Following the launch of AMD's 2nd generation Ryzen Threadripper CPUs, Cooler Master has announced its special edition Wraith Ripper tower CPU cooler, which can handle up to 250W of TDP.

Coming in the Q4 2018

Intel has pulled quite a rabbit out of its hat at the Computex 2018 press conference by unveiling and showing a running 28-core consumer CPU which should be available by the end of the year.

Zen 3, Navi, and next-gen on track

In addition to revealing that Ryzen Threadripper 2000 series is now sampling, AMD has given a bit more information on its future CPU and GPU plans with fresh two new slides, confirming that both Vega and Zen 2 7nm designs are complete as well as that its future designs are on track.

Number of products in 2019

AMD was asked about its 7nm products and, as we reported last week, the 7nm GPU for AI has been taped out and apparently so is the 7nm server CPU.
