16Gb DDR5 on 6th generation 10nm process

SK hynix has announced the development of the industry's first 16Gb DDR5 memory built on 1c node, the 6th generation 10nm manufacturing process. SK hynix expects volume shipment as of next year.

According to details, SK hynix will be ready for mass production of the 1c DDR5 within the year and start volume shipment next year. The company says that the 1c DDR5 memory brings an improvement in cost competitiveness and comes with enhanced productivity thanks to technological innovation, compared to the 1b DDR5.

Aimed at high-performance data centers, the 1c DDR5 brings an increase of 11 percent in operating speed, with a power efficiency improvement of over 9 percent.

"We are committed to providing differentiated values to customers by applying the 1c technology equipped with the best performance and cost competitiveness to our major next-generation products including HBM, LPDDR6, and GDDR7," said Head of DRAM Development Kim Jonghwan. "We will continue to work towards maintaining the leadership in the DRAM space and position as the most-trusted AI memory solution provider."
