Micron unveils new 3500 NVMe SSD

Aimed at gaming, content creation, and scientific computing

Micron Technology has announced its latest Micron 3500 NVMe SSD. Based on 232-layer NAND, the Micron 3500 SSD series comes in M.2 form-factor and in capacities of up to 2TB.

According to Micron, the Micron 3500 SSD series is meant for demanding workloads for business applications, scientific computing, cutting-edge gaming, and content creation, and should offer up to 71 percent improvement for product development applications.

"With impressive specs like a remarkable 132% improvement in scientific computing benchmark scores, the 3500 SSD will turn your next PC or workstation into a powerhouse to enable insights and empower creativity."

In terms of specifications, the Micron 3500 SSD is a standard M.2 form-factor NVMe PCIe Gen4 SSD available in 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities. The sequential performance peaks at 7,000MB/s for read and 7,000MB/s for write (5,100MB/s for the 512GB and 6,900MB/s for the 1TB version), with random read and write performance of up ot 1,150 IOPS (680 and 1,050 for 512GB and 1TB version) and 1,150 IOPS (700 IOPS for 512GB), respectively.

The endurance rating is at 300TB, 600TB, and 1,200TB TBW. As said it is based on Micron's 6th generation 3D 232-layer TLC NAND and is now shipping to select PC OEMs and to the market as Crucial X9 Pro and Crucial X10 Pro portable SSDs.
