With Intel's latest Xeon W-3400 series bringing up to 56 cores, 112 threads, and support for 112 PCIe 5.0 lanes, these Pro WS W790 series are designed to both offer overclocking capabilities and ensure reliable operation while also bring an extensive set of features and options to the professional workstation users.
The Pro WS W790E-SAGE SE is aimed at high-end workstation market, featuring 8 slots for up to 2TB of ECC R-DIMM DDR5 memory, a total of 7 PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, dual 10G Ethernet ports, dedicated BMC LAN port for remote management, and wide range of USB and other ports. If you are wondering, it combines two Intel 10GbE and one Realtek 1GbE port.
The Pro WS W790E-SAGE SE features a beefy 14+1+1 VRM, which should ensure both stable operation as well as some overclocking potential. This one is based on a 12x13-inch EEB form-factor.
The Pro WS W790-ACE is more aimed at the mainstream workstation market, and while it still features 8 RAM slots with the same support for up to 2TB of ECC R-DIMM RAM in quad-channel, it cuts the number of PCIe 5.0 slots to five, but still features three SlimSAS slots for wide storage options.
The Pro WS W790-ACE also cuts down the VRM part to a 12+1+1 design and features a single Marvell 10GbE and one Intel 2.5GbE port. There are also slightly fewer USB ports and half the SATA ports. It is based on a 12x10.5-inch CEB form-factor.
Unfortunately, Asus did not reveal any details regarding the price but motherboards packed with such features never come cheap.
