According to details posted at Videocardz.com and via @momomo_us, as well as teased by Raja Koduri himself, the upcoming Intel NUC 12 Extreme, which is based at 4" x 14" chassis design, will be based on two main SKUs, the NUC12EDBi9 and the NUC12EDBi7, coming with a 65W Core i9-12900 or the Core i7-12700 CPU, respectively.
The rest of the specifications include a full-size PCIe 5.0 x16 slot with support for up to 12" discrete graphics, two DDR4 SO-DIMM memory slots with support for up to 64GB of DDR4-3200 memory, which is a surprise but not necessarily a bad thing considering the state of the DDR5 memory market.
When it comes to storage, the NUC 12 Extreme gets three PCIe 4.0 M.2 NVMe slots.
The NUC 12 Extreme also features a 10Gbps Ethernet port, which is definitely a plus, and a Core i9 SKU also comes with an additional 2.5Gbps port, as well as Intel WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. You also get HDMI 2.0b output, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, six USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, USB-A and USB-C ports at the front.
Raja Koduri, senior vice president and general manager of the Accelerated Computing Systems and Graphics (AXG) Group at Intel Corporation, has recently teased an Intel NUC 12 Extreme running Lara Croft with XeSS on yet to be released Intel Arc graphics card.
There were also a couple of price leaks for the new NUC 12 Extreme, putting it at €1180/$1514, for the Core i7 SKU, and €1401/$1714 for the Core i9 version.
