Dell and Alienware have announced their thinnest and lightest gaming laptop up to date, the Alienware m15. Both lighter and thinner than the smallest Alienware 13, the new Alienware m15 will still pack quite a punch in its 2.17kg chassis.

Measuring 362.86x275x20.99mm (14.29x10.8x0.83-inch) and weighing in at just 2.16kg (4.76lbs), the new Alienware m15 will be available in epic silver and nebula red color options, and come with a wide range of customization, starting with three screen options, the 15.6-inch FHD (1920x1080) 60Hz IPS screen, the 15.6-inch FHD (1920x1080) 144Hz TN screen, or the 15.6-inch UHD (3840x2160) 60Hz IPS screen with 400nits of brightness.

Alienware went all out on the design of the new Alienware m15 and says it incorporates a 22-year history of designing premium, high-performance desktops, laptops, and other PC gaming devices. The design uses premium materials like magnesium alloy and copper, which should both keep it as light as possible as well as give it good thermal management with Alienware Cryo-Tech 2.0.

The Alienware m15 will also have a choice between two CPUs, the quad-core Core i5-8300H or the six-core Core i7-8750H, and either the Geforce GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5 or the GTX 1070 Max-Q 8GB GDDR5 graphics card. Bear in mind that it also supports Alienware Graphics Amplifier.

It also can be equipped with up to 32GB (2x16GB) of DDR4-2666 memory in two SO-DIMM slots, single storage, with 8GB SSD + 1TB hybrid drive or 256GB SATA M.2 SSD, or dual-storage configuration with up to 1TB PCIe M.2 SSD with 8GB SSD + 1TB hybrid drive, 120GB Intel Optane SSD with the same Hybrid Drive, or 512GB PCIe SSD M.2 SSD with 256GB PCIe M.2 SSD.

The rest of the features include the special Alienware mSeries keyboard with 1.4mm key travel, anti-ghosting and four Alien-FX light zones, Killer Networks e2500 Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11802.11ac 2x2 WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 (optional Killer Wireless 1550 2x2 AC and Bluetooth 5.0), three USB 3.0 Type-A ports, one Thunderbolt 3 port, HDMI and mini DisplayPort outputs, and the aforementioned Alienware Graphics Amplifier Port.

There is a choice between a standard 60Wh and optional 90Wh battery, and Alienware claims a battery life of up to 17 hours.

The Alienware m15 should go on sale globally on October 25, starting at $1,299, and will be available directly from Alienware.com and in retail stores.
