February was marked by strong sales, up 22 percent from a month earlier. The company shifted $519 million worth of silicon, which was up 158 percent year-on-year. The numbers were boosted by Mediatek's acquisition of Mstar Semiconductor, as it booked MStar's sales as its own, reports Focus Taiwan.
Apart from dry financials, Mediatek didn't shed much light on the geeky aspect of its business, but it did say that it plans to ship about 300 million smartphone chips this year, up from 220 million last year.
The company has already stated that its plan is to double tablet SoC sales this year.
