AMD has shot down claims of NSA snooping via CPU backdoors. Earlier this week a security expert claimed that the NSA might be using backdoors in processors built by AMD and Intel to do what it does best – spy on everything with a pulse.

However, AMD says its chips are as safe as a Swiss bank vault.

“Providing security to users of our processors is a key priority for AMD. We've been incorporating security features into our silicon for many years. There's no reason for the unfounded speculation that has been occurring,” an AMD representative told us.

It seems like the NSA simply can’t use a CPU backdoor after all, but with its vast resources it can probably get what it wants with relative ease. As long as you are not paranoid about it, you should do fine.
