Intel has slashed the prices of several processor and it is killing off a few low end parts in July as well. In addition, the company has recently started shipping several new parts, such as the six-core i7-970, priced at $885, the $205 Core i5 760 and the low-voltage Core i7 870S, priced at $351.
Intel has cut some prices as well. The Core i7 870 has dropped 48 percent, from $562 to $294. If you have recently bought one, please accept our deepest sympathies. The Core i3 540 has slipped 12 percent to $117, while the venerable E6600 and E5500 Pentiums have dropped 11 and 15 percent respectively, to $75 and $64.
The E7400, E6300 and E3200 have been discontinued and they are in a better place now.
