Intel said that Santa Rosa platform
was the fastest accepted one so far. Intel claims that it sold 10
million platforms to the OEMs from the launch at June to this very
day.
It plans to refresh the platform with the new Penryn CPU, but in the middle of 2008 it will introduce the Montevina platform. This platform is based on Cantega chipset that will offer better IGP and Wimax support at the same time. Intel will support Display Port on this one and promises native HD DVD and BluRay support.
It also should bring the notebook to under 25W consumption which implicates that the battery life should be better than the refreshed Santa Rosa.
