All Core i3, i5 and i7 CPUs should instantly get replaced with Sandy Bridge and only the Pentium version of Core 2010 generation will outlive them for one more quarter.
Core 2010
generation should get replaced with Sandy Bridge CPUs in Q1 2011. The Pentium
G6950 is the only Westmere 32nm CPU that doesn’t support four way
hyperthreading and just like Core i3 CPUs it doesn’t supports Turbo
overclocking either.
In this
market segment, Pentium G6950 will outlive all Westmere 32nm or Nehalem 45nm
based Core i CPUs and in Q2 2011, Intel is supposed to launch a Sandy Bridge
replacement for this Pentium CPU. The branding is not something we are aware
of, at least not at press time.
