CULV gets new dual-cores
Celeron 743, SU2300 and SU9600
Intel is expanding its CULV processor lineup for thin and light notebooks with two new dual-core CPUs. The new Montevina Plus Celeron 743, Core 2 Duo SU2300 and Core 2 Duo 9600 will join the already available Celeron 723, Core 2 Solo SU3500 and Core 2 Duo SU9300 CULV CPUs.
The Celeron 743 is clocked at 1.3GHz, while the SU2300 runs at 1.2GHz. Both are 45nm, Penryn based parts, and they both feature a 10W TDP, 800MHz FSB and 1MB of L2 cache. Both will use the GS40 chipset and DDR2 memory. The best thing about them is that they will bring down CULV dual-core prices to sensible levels, as the SU9300 is no bargain, and Intel is calling them entry-level dual-cores.
In case you need a bit more muscle, the 1.6GHz SU9600 will come with 4GB DDR3 memory,FSB800, 3MB of cache, GS45 chipset and Intel thinks it's a good idea to couple it with a 320GB hard drive or an X-18M SSD.
Also, Digitimes is reporting that some notebook makers claim entry level CULV-books will probably see a $61 to $91 price drop in August.
