Intel has plans to update the speed of Core 2 Quad Q8200s
Energy efficient processor, and to replace this 2.33GHz CPU with a new one, clocked
at 2.66GHz.
The new CPU should launch in Q3 2009 and it features 65W TDP,
FSB 333MHz, 2x2MB shared cache and it is based on Yorkfield 45nm quad core.
The CPU in its boxed and tray versions are already listed
here but we don't expect that they should be available by Q3 2009. Intel should price
it at €200 at launch and naturally, it will have much better thermals than the
regular quad-core that features 95W TDP.
AMD will also come with its energy efficient CPUs roughly at
the same time, but AMD can deliver 45W TDP quad cores, at some lower clock
speeds.
